New Siem Reap International Airport – What you need to know

The newly opened Siem Reap International Airport aims to offer travelers a world-class aviation hub in Cambodia’s cultural capital. With its modern amenities and strategic location, the airport positions Siem Reap as a premier destination for tourism and business travel in Southeast Asia.

New Siem Reap International Airport

Inaugurated on October 16, 2023 after five years of construction, the new Siem Reap International airport spans over 700,000 square meters and boasts a 4,000 meter runway capable of handling large aircraft. Travelers can expect an ultra-modern terminal featuring Cambodian-inspired architecture, sleek check-in counters, cozy lounges, and an array of dining options showcasing local cuisine.

55km from Siem Reap’s city center, the airport offers easy access to the world-famous Angkor Archaeological Park and temple complex. The expanded international gateway is projected to serve 15 million passengers annually, transforming Siem Reap into a global aviation hub.

Siem Reap is an exciting city with a diverse range of places to stay and styles of cuisine. As well as being home to many of Cambodia’s ancient cultural treasures including the Angkor Wat temples, Siem Reap acts as Cambodia’s northern transportation hub providing easy ground access by bus or taxi to destinations around the country such as Battambang among many others.

To ensure seamless ground transportation from the new airport, travelers can conveniently book airport transfers to and from hotels citywide via private taxi or car service on CamboTicket.com. With everything from budget-friendly shared rides to luxury vehicles, visitors can choose the airport transfer option that best suits their needs.

An airport shuttle service by bus and van is now being offered by the airport, however please note the schedule is infrequent, with first departure from Siem Reap is at 8AM and from the airport at 9:30AM.

Furthermore, the airport shuttle does not stop in the city center so it will be necessary to organise other transportation to and from your hotel.

Also, if you need to catch an early flight, taking a private taxi will be the only option and this is also recommended as the preferred option at other times for peace of mind and convenience.

As Cambodia’s tourism and air travel continues to grow, the new Siem Reap international airport stands ready to offer visitors a best-in-class air hub experience combined with easy access to Angkor’s ancient wonders. The future is bright for travel through this architectural marvel blending modern efficiency with Cambodian style.
